Upon successful completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Training program, the graduate should be able to:

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the criminal, traffic, civil, alcoholic beverage, and juvenile laws of the State.
• Exhibit an understanding of the laws governing proper use of law enforcement defensive tactics, firearm techniques, basic precision driving, and emergency first aid as a first responder
• Conduct criminal investigations and traffic crash investigations
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of a law enforcement officer’s interaction with victims, citizens, special needs subjects, and juveniles
• Demonstrate proper law enforcement patrol techniques, felony vehicle stop procedures, and building searches
• Exhibit appropriate skills necessary for case preparation, courtroom testimony, and courtroom demeanor
• Possess entry level skills of civil process and custody procedures
• Display the needed skills to handle crisis situations and domestic violence confrontations
• Communicate effectively through oral and written formats
• Exhibit professionalism and ethical conduct.
